Caring for Your Acacia FurnitureUpdated 11 days ago

We’re so glad you chose Acacia—it’s a stunning and durable hardwood that makes a beautiful addition to your space. To keep it looking its best, a little regular maintenance goes a long way. Here are some helpful tips to preserve the beauty and longevity of your Acacia furniture:

🌿 Why Care Matters

Acacia wood is often compared to teak due to its similar appearance and strength—but one key difference is maintenance. While teak requires little upkeep, Acacia benefits from routine care to protect it from the elements.

If left untreated or exposed to outdoor conditions for extended periods, Acacia can become weathered. That’s why we recommend cleaning it regularly and applying teak oil every few months. If you're not planning to use your furniture for a while, storing it indoors or covering it will help keep it in great shape.

🧽 Cleaning & Maintenance Tips

  • Clean regularly using a mix of mild dish soap and water. Apply with a soft-bristle brush, rinse thoroughly, and towel dry.

  • Apply teak oil every 2–3 months (or more often as needed) to help protect the wood from drying out and cracking.

  • Dry it off promptly after rain or any time it gets wet—standing moisture can lead to swelling.

  • Cover your furniture with a waterproof cover when not in use to shield it from direct sunlight and moisture.

  • Avoid long-term exposure to direct sunlight and extreme humidity when possible.

🛡️ Dealing with Mold or Moisture

While Acacia is naturally resistant to mold, it’s not completely mold-proof—especially in high-humidity environments. If you notice mold or mildew:

  1. Spray the area lightly with white vinegar.

  2. Gently scrub with a soft brush.

  3. Rinse with water and dry with a clean cloth.

  4. Once dry, reapply teak oil to maintain protection.

Moisture in the air or from rain can cause wood cells to expand, potentially leading to swelling or warping. Proper care and storage can prevent this.
