Proposition 65 & Product Safety InformationUpdated 11 days ago
At Walker Edison, your safety and confidence in our products are extremely important to us. Below is some helpful information regarding Proposition 65, what it means, and how our products are tested for safety.
What is Proposition 65?
Proposition 65 is a California law that requires businesses to provide a “clear and reasonable” warning if a product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.
Even if a product contains only trace amounts of these substances, the law still requires a warning label to inform consumers.
Are Walker Edison Products Safe?
Yes. Walker Edison routinely tests all of our materials to ensure they are safe for personal and in-home use. We meet or exceed safety standards and comply with all relevant regulations.
Here’s a breakdown of commonly used materials and how we ensure their safety:
MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard)
May contain trace amounts of formaldehyde from adhesives
Tested for safety and CARB Phase 2 compliant for extremely low emissions
Solid Wood
Paint may contain trace amounts of lead
Tested and fully compliant with 16 CFR Part 1303 regulations
Rubber/Plastic
May contain phthalates (commonly found in flexible plastics)
These levels are extremely low and not considered a health concern
Rubber/plastic components are rare in our products
Metal
May contain trace amounts of cadmium in protective coatings and lead in some metal alloys like brass
All materials are tested to ensure safety and compliance
